Cycling and the Law

Introduction Cycling is a simple pleasure – a bike can be acquired for next to nothing and you don’t require a licence or any specialist equipment – but whatever type of cyclist you are, it pays to know your rights and responsibilities in law. This abridged version of Cycling and the Law considers some of the problems commonly faced by cyclists from a legal perspective, and offers advice on how to stay safe and compliant whilst still enjoying the many benefits that cycling brings. You can find the full version of Cycling and the Law at www.eta.co.uk. If you have a question that isn’t covered here, email news@eta.co.uk and we’ll do our best to find the answer. For free legal advice about cycling, you can contact our dedicated helpline on 0845 389 1050. 4 www.eta.co.uk
