In the Netherlands, most cyclists would no sooner attach torches to their cars than ride a bike without a good-quality dynamo, but we British are more likely to opt for LED lights – which now come in all shapes and sizes.
The Aura is a nylon webbing belt with a flexible LED and fibre optic lighting system embedded within. It can be set to emit a constant glow, slow pulse or a strobing flash.
The Aura Belt can be ordered for £24.99 from auracyclesystems.co.uk or enter our prize draw to win one.
Features:
- Tough construction
- Light and easy to wear / remove
- Constant glow, slow pulsing or strobe flash
- Over 70 hours’ light protection
- One touch lighting
- Weather-proof
- Concealed battery system (takes 2 replaceable CR2032 batteries)
- Adjustable women’s size 4 to men’s size 42

Basia Zaba

A subtle piece of kit, and probably helps identify you visually as a cyclist rather than just a bright light.

When is a waist of light not a waste of light?
Berno Brosschot
The Netherlands: almost all rear lights on Dutch bicycles have been LED’s for at least the last ten years now. The better types have a ‘low battery’ warning indicator and an ‘auto’ setting that switches them on when dusk falls. For their front lights most people prefer the reliabilty and convenience of a dynamo, although LED front lights have become more popular. Again for convenience, these are permanently fixed to the bikes, just as dynamo lights are. Flashing lights however, front or rear, are not permitted.
Kevin
Living in a small village with no pavement or street lights this look great for wearing while out at night.

TimA

This has the advantage of fitting over clothing instead of dictating the clothing worn. Excellent product.
Neil
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!!!
Liz MacGregor
This would be in high demand between the cyclists and dog walkers in our house. Now there’s an idea – how about dog collars made in the same way?

Craig Scott-Angell
I saw these online before and thought they were great. Not just for cycling but running and young children out in the evening or walking to school in the mornings. Definitely considering some of these
David Hunt
Nice idea that would really stand out. Hopefully this identifies you as a person( cyclist or pedestrian), rather than just a blinding light, as drivers (including me( would not expect to see a light band; This would be very useful where I live as there are no street lights.
Matt Roff
Another great innovation. Perhaps we could soon see this type of lighting technology around the edges of hydration packs?
Mike Croker
Light enough to wear…
Bernie Kriegel
This would be an essential tool along with my spoke wrench, pump, water bottle, helmet and air horn.
Su Gilroy

Stephen Foster
Great idea, but how bright are they?
James Russell
Now you can belt up and be safe in the car as well as the bike!
Seriously, though, this could have saved me from some of my more serious injuries this time last week. My fault, but with the belt, the car might have seen me earlier.
Suzanne.K.
Excellent. Very impressed!
Jamie J
Superb.
Sue p
BRILLIANT!
Toity Deave
Kids, dogs or me? All could use it.

Cath
Brilliant idea.
Darren C
I would love to wear one of these, but I’ll have to watch my ever increasing waistline!

Wearable lights are a great idea and this belt looks particularly effective. The fact that kids are happy to wear it is a bonus!

These would go down a storm with the ravers as well!

Great for when you don’t have the space to fit a light to your seat post!
Paul Butler
I’d like to win that for my winter commute.
martin reeves
What a great innovation. As a regular commuter I’m always looking to improve my alround visability. This simple idea is the first 360 deg solution I have seen.

Good idea to make cyclists, or anyone needing to make themselves seen, more visible.
Nick Klee
Another great idea
Isabelle Clement
As a belt it wouldn’t be much good to me on my handcycle but might be great wrapped round the handcrank frame at the front. V sifficult to attach conventional lights to it.
Ian
Superb, useful for cycling or walking
Helena
It will be handy for my roller skiing too.
Ann Marie Wrigley
Neat and useful!
Sarah Martin-Smith

Sarah Purdon
A great way of ensuring visibility from all sides
Michael Allen
I would love one of these but I’d like even more a cross belt at the back with flashing or permanent light choice. Why doesn’t every cyclist have one?
