HueRay flashing bicycle grips

HueRay flashing bicycle grips have built-in LED lights that help cyclists stand out in traffic.

Emitting most of their light to the side, HueRay flashing bicycle grips aim to address the unfortunate habit that some car driver have of overtaking cyclists only to suddenly make a left turn.

Available in a range of vibrant colours, the light components can be slipped out of the silicone handlebar grips to stop them getting pinched while parked.

Each HueRay grip emits 90 lumens – enough to be useful in city traffic. A lithium-polymer battery gives six hours of flashing light, after which they can be snapped together for easy recharging via a USB cable.

HueRay is crowdfunding on Kickstarter where the grips can be pre-ordered for $69 (plus $20 shipping). The illuminated grips are expected to cost $100 when they eventually reach the open market, which we think is expensive for something that probably should come as standard on urban commuter bikes.

Fully comp cycle insurance
ETA 25 years

For 25 years we have been providing straightforward, affordable bicycle insurance. Whether you use your bike to commute, shop, race or amble in the park, ETA Cycle Insurance has you covered.

Many cycle insurers offer very limited cover, charging extra for features we believe should come as standard – The ETA never devalues bikes no matter their age, allows you to buy your replacement bike wherever you like, replaces stolen  quick release components and handles claims in-house. Can your insurance provider say the same?

Every cycle insurance policy you buy helps support the work of the ETA Trust, our charity campaigning for a cleaner, safer transport future.

Good idea but like most ideas it needs to have quite a lot of people to be using them to be a real benefit to safety, otherwise you might look like a muppet with all those lights. Would be nice if you had a competition for a pair though 🙂
