The Vivid Lock is wearable bike security with built-in LED lights.

Fabricated from nylon, clear PVC and waterproof LED strips, the Vivid lock has 30 white lights facing forwards and 30 red ones at the rear. The idea is that it saves you having to carry a separate lock and lights.

The team behind the Vivid Lock are crowd funding to get the design into production. You can pre-order a lock for £46 plus postage via Kickstarter

How secure is the Vivid Lock?

The less stuff you have to carry by bike the better, so the Vivid Lock scores top marks for innovation. It relies on two PVC-coated 6 mm steel cables with fibre core and a combination lock to secure your bike. Generally speaking, cable locks don’t stand up well to attack by bolt cutters so it would be interesting to see if the design earned more than a Bronze rating from Sold Secure.
