A new design of breathable, waterproof trousers that can be zipped quickly into place over other clothing in less than 15 seconds promises to be a better safeguard against the British climate than trusting the weather forecast.
The Vear waterproof trousers should allow the British cycle commuter to take an unexpected shower in their stride – zips on both sides from top to bottom allow them to be donned extremely quickly at the first sign of rain.
Constructed from a windproof, waterproof and breathable fabric, the Vear ‘legs jacket’ was inspired by the extremes of the Scandinavian climate. Adjustable straps ensure a snug fit, reflective strips boost your visibility and a tapered leg prevents the trouser bottoms from getting snagged in the bicycle chain.
Win a pair of Vear waterproof trousers
The Vera trousers can be pre-ordered for 129 euros via Kickstarter, but we have a pair to give away. Simply refer to the chart below and let us know at the bottom of this page which size suits you best. We’ll let you know if your name has been drawn next week.
Protection for you and your bike whatever the weather
We applaud all-weather cyclists and have done our best to create an insurance policy that offers all the help we can. For example, our Cycle Rescue service is on hand 24 hours a day throughout the year should you suffer a mechanical breakdown or puncture. And if you’re bike is vandalised or stolen, we’ll pick up the bill for a cab home.
On the face of it, one cycle insurance policy is much like another, but the excess you are charged in the event of a claim is just one of the things that varies wildly between providers. Another is so called ‘new-for-old’ replacement – many insurers use this term, but if your bicycle is more than a few years old, devalue it severely. This means you are left out of pocket when you come to replace it.
ETA cycle insurance has a low standard excess of 5% (minimum £25) and offers a new-for-old for life – however old the bike, if it’s stolen you get enough to buy a new model. Furthermore, every cycle insurance policy you buy from us helps support the work of the ETA Trust, our charity campaigning for a cleaner, safer transport future – just one of the reasons The Good Shopping Guide has voted us to provide the most ethical insurance in Britain.
