A man whose mobility scooter broke down in Huddersfield town centre earlier this month was left stranded after local taxi firms were unable to take him home.
The Huddersfield Daily Examiner reports that Cleveroy Ritchie sat calling out for help in the rain – but even people who stopped to try and help him could do nothing. He eventually flagged down a police car, and officers were able to help him.
The story is not an isolated case and highlights how many of Britain’s 300,000 mobility scooter users are without breakdown cover.
Here at the ETA, we include breakdown cover at no additional cost in our mobility scooter insurance.
