If you include power plant cooling water, it takes seven litres of water simply to manufacture a one-litre bottle. To that environmental cost you can add the 162g of oil required to make the plastic, all the associated CO2 emissions and the millions of tons of land fill or ocean waste to which the bottled water industry contributes. Just as well that people are beginning to recognise the numerous benefits of tap water.
The Clima bottle is a 500ml insulated stainless steel vessel that keeps your tap water cold for 24 hours – or your soup hot for 12 hours.
The bottle is 100% free of BPA, phthalates and toxins – and we’re pretty sure it will fit a standard bicycle bottle cage. More info at 24bottles.com
Win a Clima bottle
We have a Clima bottle in blue to give away. Simply leave us a comment at the bottom of the page and we will pick a winner next week.
Ethical insurance
Not only are we ethical, we campaign for sustainable transport. Sometimes that means protesting until a school gets the zebra crossing they’ve been refused or running 60 roadshows this year to encourage people out of their cars, or fixing bicycles for free. We also launched Green Transport Week and helped establish Car Free Day and Twenty’s Plenty to name just a few.
We’ve been campaigning for sustainable transport in this way for over 27 years with the help of people like you. Supporting this work is easy – you simply have to take out home insurance, cycle insurance, travel insurance and breakdown cover and we take care of the rest. We provide an excellent level of cover while putting concern for the environment at the heart of all we do.

Before you pick up that plastic bottle off the supermarket shelf for your weekend cYc ride, stop and consider that it will take anything up to 1000 years to decompose. That’s if it does not end up polluting our precious marine environment.
One Clima water bottle can be used again, and again to slake your thirst.
You know it makes sense.
Peter Chisnall

Being insulated should prevent moisture forming on the outside which generally makes books and papers wet when in a school bag.
