Let’s hasten the extinction of the disposable plastic carrier bag

notabag

Plastic carrier bag sales fell by more than 90% following the introduction of charges in 2015. However, recycling rates have fallen during lockdown and sales of ‘bags for life’, which use more plastic than the throwaway variety, continue to increase. The UK government has decided against robust action on disposable plastic. By contrast, France said banned every kind of plastic checkout bag from shops irrespective of their size, and then, in early 2020, to plates, cups and cotton buds. In other words, it’s down to us as consumers to hasten the extinction of disposable plastic carrier bags.

Whether you are popping out on your bike or venturing further afield, the reflective Notabag is a clever combination of a bag and a backpack made from high visibility reflective material. It’s party trick is quickly transforming from a bag to a backpack with a pull on the straps.

The small pouch measures only 13 x 15 cm in its folded state, but quickly expands to form a backpack measuring 45 x 65 cm.

Environmentally friendly cycle insurance

On the face of it, one bicycle insurance policy is much like another, but the devil is the detail. How much excess you will be charged is just one of the things that varies wildly between providers. Another is so called ‘new-for-old’ replacement – many insurers use this term, but if your bicycle is more than a few years old, devalue it severely. This means you are left out of pocket when you come to replace it.

ETA cycle insurance offers a new-for-old for life – however old the bike, if it’s stolen you get enough to buy a new model. Furthermore, every cycle insurance policy you buy from us helps support the work of the ETA Trust, our charity campaigning for a cleaner, safer transport future.

For over 30 years we’ve been provided straightforward, affordable bicycle insurance. Whether you use your bike to commute, shop, race or amble in the park, ETA Cycle Insurance has you covered.

Always useful to have a shopping bag, especially one that can be used as a normal carrier bag or rucksack – keeping hands free for something else.
