Keeping a bicycle under cover protects it from the weather and prying eyes, but with urban areas short on space, for many that’s easier said than done. When a manufacturer of tents was challenged to address the problem, the result was BikeParka – a high-quality, fitted water-proof cover for bicycles.
In the same that way that today’s all-weather cyclists have forgone the traditional cagoule in favour of waterproof, yet breathable jackets, so BikeParka offers a technical alternative to a basic tarpaulin. Manufactured from rip-stop, the lightweight material used to fabricate sails, parachutes and kites, the BikeParka features sealed seams, an elasticated fit and a slot through which to pass a lock.
Most bike sizes are catered for by a range of sizes – including kids’ bicycles – and prices start at around £30. See bikeparka.com

ETA cycle insurance – Excellent protection whatever the weather
ETA cycle insurance offers a sympathetic policy on storage. For example, as long as a shed door is locked, bicycles stored within do not require any further security. In addition, the policy covers stolen quick-release components and, for added peace of mind, claims are handled in-house. Furthermore, bikes are never devalued, no matter their age.
Need to store your bicycle outside, but no garden shed?
Bike thieves go for easy pickings first, but are notoriously resourceful and brazen when need be. The upshot for cyclists is that thieves will remove hinges from a garden shed, pull aside fence posts to pop open side gates and even demolish a garage door to get to a good bike – even if it means doing it within earshot of a house. In answer to this threat, two enterprising cyclists from Southend have come up with Bike Vault, a robust storage box wholly manufactured in Britain using recyclable materials.

You’ve got to be in it to win it!

Is it orange coloured inside, like the Parka of my childhood, and where’s the (faux) fur trim around the edge?
Hannah Lord
This is great exactly what I need for my bike!
Thank you for running the competition x

I’d love to bag one of those for my pride and joy please.

Jill
Would be so useful to tuck my bike up in whilst camping.
Julian
This looks so much easier to use than the shapeless, easily ripped plastic one I binned for the reasons just mentioned, and I much prefer the retro parka branding compared to what it could’ve been ….. the ‘BikeShellSuit’ – no doubt in a very crinkly, shiny and louder colour scheme.
Frank
You rang, m’lady?
Richard
Much nicer than the one I bought from a certain sports retailer that fell apart after two years, yes please
Ann Marie Wrigley
… so my neice will no longer be cycling home on a wet saddle?

Bike parking in the rain is so much better with a Parka.
Chris
Our daughter’s recently nicked bike’s been repl;aced with a sturdy go anywhere everyday bike which itself has just had a Brooks saddle upgrade. This cool Parka could protect and secure saddle and bike and keep daughter cycling too! Win! Win! Win?
Pamela
O cosy bike so safe and warm – yes please
James Booth
My bike Charlie Chalk would love to be warm and snuggly under their very own BikeParka!

My mum’s small house has nowhere for me to shelter my bike, so this would be very useful.
Yousaf
My brother could really use one of those. Short on space and relies on his bike for work.
Vincent
It’ll double up as a bivy quite nicely thank you.
Jane Collier
Fabulous for when you have no space in your home to keep your bike from being exposed to all the elements.
Rory
One of these would be very handy
Kevin Holland
Just what I need to replace the ‘cheap’ bike cover I have that’s only partly covering my bike, which is now ripped to shreds.
Peter Chisnall
