If the current chaos at the fuel pumps teaches us anything, it’s the peril of relying on cars. Fuel shortages aside, modern electronics can make repairs tricky if not impossible for the DIY mechanic. No such problem with the trusty bicycle. Armed with a basic set of tools (and perhaps an instructional video on YouTube) you can fix many problems with ease.
We have a set of tools worth £70 to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, simply leave us a comment at the bottom of this page and we’ll pick a winner next week.
The tool kit includes the following:
Puncture repair kit: rubber cement, sandpaper, 2 bits of rubber, 6 small, 2 medium, 1 large patch
Chain rivet extractor: compatible with MTB/road chains and some single speeds

Ethical cycle insurance
On the face of it, one cycle insurance policy is much like another, but the devil is the detail. Check your small print for so-called ‘new-for-old’ replacement – many insurers use the term, but if your bicycle is more than a few years old, devalue it severely. This means you are left out of pocket when you come to replace it.
With ETA cycle insurance, however old the bike, if it’s stolen you get enough to buy a new model. Furthermore, every cycle insurance policy you buy from us helps support the work of the ETA Trust, our charity campaigning for a cleaner, safer transport future. Little wonder The Good Shopping Guide judges us to be Britain’s most ethical provider.

That one case of tools would be a godsend in this busy household of cyclists who rely on just one torx key set!!
Darren C
Thank you again for giving us the chance to win a great prize – I would benefit greatly from this case, especially as I don’t (yet 😉 ) own a cone spanner or chain whip.
Colin
I’m just getting back into cycling again and one of these would do very nicely.
Andy G
Looks like a fantastic set! Would really help out with our family fleet of bikes.
Mr Christopher Rawlinson
What a practical worthwhile gift to ensure that your cycle is maintained and prepared for any journey and eventuality
whilst making a choice to cycle and a positive contribution to the environment
I would very much appreciate winning this prize
Thank you for your consideration
Mark
Maybe this current fuel crisis madness will force more people onto their bikes……… maybe…….
We need to make our cycling infrastructure and cyclist protection better though……
Stephen D.
A well equipped tool box, thanks for the opportunity of winning one!
Gillian
Our whole family is riding now more since the pandemic, so one of these would be very useful.
Thanks.
Jim W
A fantastic array of tools, just what I need to get my kids into maintaining their own bikes!
Mark
ETA = Every Tool Available

I’m sure this set would be perfect addition to anyone’s bike issues. I’d love to have this set, need one as don’t have one.
Peter
Petrol shortages are just another example of why we should switch to sustainable transport and invest in cycling so much more.
It would be amazing to have a toolkit like this as I’m just about to complete a bike maintenance course so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Donald Woodman
Thank you
Peter Soper
Just right for a winter in the workshop, replacing my collection of odds and ends of tools built up over the years.
Paul E
Need to replace the bottom bracket on my sons bike, but need some tools so this would be perfect and super useful. Boy with a bike = 😊

Pete
Cheers for the last year of cycle cover.
Kathy Rickard
It’s really a no brainer so what’s stopping us all playing our part in creating a healthier, happier, more productive and safer Britain?
Ema
Great tools, everything you need in one place. To get more people cycling we need more segregated cycle lanes; too many people choose the car because they feel safer in it when they could very well cycle.
Jeff W
A bit of overkill, but I like it
Jane Churchill
This would be brilliant in our house for my son who is always fixing his bikes and having to borrow many of these tools from his mates.
Daniel Garwood
Oi oi, would love to get a hold of this kit, constantly patching up me and my girlfriend’s bikes x
Judith
A great article and fantastic tool set!

Would need a ‘How To Repair Your Cycle’ book with this beautiful set…will put on my letter to Santa in case I get lucky – about time I tried some home repairs…just about manage a tyre change now!

Rob Lewis
I already have a few of these tools, but it would be wonderful to have a complete set with a nice case to keep them all together.
Asha kiely
As a female, it’s good to cycle, but even better to be able to stay cycling by fixing minor problems independently
Pamela
All the tools neatly boxed. Just in the middle of bike maintenance and repair – I would be using it now.
Claire Sullivan
Yes please count me in. I could really do with these

Who needs petrol when you’ve got a bike.
Mark B
Yes please. This woule be absolutely perfect to fully equip my shed for bie maintenance!
Steve Green
This looks excellent!
Julie Ward
I reckon every girl needs one of these because walking home just got dangerous and the pumps are running out of fuel. Getting on our bikes and reclaiming the streets is now paramount. Being able to mend a puncture should be part of our education.
Karl Wallendszus
This looks excellent. A comprehensive set of tools, and a much neater way to keep them than the old wash bag that I currently use!
David Gray
I think I know how to use all those tools, except the thumb screw.
Jamie J
I don’t know how to use two or three of them and am definitely intrigued by the chain whip…
David Hamilton
Wow, with these tools my bike would never be off the road again. I’d love these.
Philip
Everything you need, all in one place. Would be very handy.
Martin Baker
Me please!
Steve K
Making it easier to keep our ageing bikes on the road would be great.
Howard
Looking at the tools included in the kit just makes you think about how many tools a cyclist needs, The bike manufactures do not help – with my current bike I have to use about ten different tools just to manipulate the variety of nuts and bolts!
Jerry
Having been backpacking throughout the country taught me that good set of tools and a bit of lube does make my next trip smoother.
Tim Earl
Oh yes, an ideal collection of tools.
Dan
Too many people are reliant on cars for short journeys due to expensive or non existent public transport and a lack of cycle infrastructure. If roads were made safe for all users similar to NL or DE and short deliveries made by cycle we’d take a lot of vehicles off the road along with improving health and people’s communities
Mags
Brilliant prize, just what a handy cyclist could need once ETA had kindly arranged the lift home after a puncture or breakdown. Not needed to use this service yet but it’s good insurance.
Chris
Nice offer, useful set of tools!
Craig
My daughter has just left for uni with her three bikes, so this tool kit would be wonderful to help keep them and her friends’ bikes on the road.
Nicholas Gilroy
No such fuel problems for me I commute by bike in all weathers, it does mean my bike takes an awful lot of abuse so the toolbox would be a godsend.
Jane Carruthers
I’ve just bought an electric bike so this would be very handy! We have three other push bikes to maintain as well .
Andy Gray
Fingers crossed and thanks for the competition
Chris Wrigely
My bike is my main form of transport – this would be a perfect prize
Mark

I’m not even sure what some of these do! But I’m guessing they would save a lot of money in the long run
Martin Richardson
Looks like a great set; and easy to keep tidy in that box!
John V

Chris Bromwich
This looks absolutely awesome, what a super toolkit.
Claire H

Peter Chisnall
Tooled up!
Sarah
This tool kit would be perfect for keeping me and my bike on the road, even better they come with a storage box so I can quickly find the right tool.
James Russell
Cyclo-cross season has started, so need all the tools I can get to keep the bikes in tip-top condition.
Paul
Looks amazing – broke a tyre lever recently so new ones would certainly come in. I have no idea what a chain whip is – promise I will find out if I win.
Andrew Richardson
What a great set of tools, all neatly stored in one case. That would be ideal in my untidy garage!
