Shoulder bag made from recycled plastic bottles

recycled bag

The Jack Wolfskin Warwick Ave Shoulder Bag is constructed from polyester made from totally from recycled plastic drinks bottles.

In total, some 7.7 billion plastic bottles are bought across Britain each year, resulting in substantial amounts of waste. There’s no substitute for eliminating single-use plastic products, but after reducing and re-using comes recycling so we have one of the shoulder bags to give away

If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning it, please leave us a comment below and let us know what you’d use it to carry.

Ethical cycle insurance

On the face of it, one cycle insurance policy is much like another, but the devil is the detail. Check your small print for so-called ‘new-for-old’ replacement – many insurers use the term, but if your bicycle is more than a few years old, devalue it severely. This means you are left out of pocket when you come to replace it.

With ETA cycle insurance, however old the bike, if it’s stolen you get enough to buy a new model. Furthermore, every cycle insurance policy you buy from us helps support the work of the ETA Trust, our charity campaigning for a cleaner, safer transport future. Little wonder The Good Shopping Guide has voted us to provide the most ethical insurance in Britain.

I’d love to have this and give it to a wonderful colleague at work who is deeply committed to ‘living green’ and inspires the rest of us to try harder. At the moment she’s signing us up for a project to turn plastic into useful items, so this would be the perfect gift for her.

It would carry all my stuff. My pens, the book I still haven’t started reading, the lint covered lip balm, a collection of coppers, two oversized paper clips, the chewing gum I couldn’t find a bin for (wrapped in a bus ticket), my note book, my purse, my phone and spare poo bags (for the dog, not me… just to be clear).

I care for the environment. I like to travel light. I could pack everything for a week-long trip in this one environment-friendly bag; clothes, a mac-in-a-sac, toiletries, a book, many odds and ends. It would be a challenge, but I also have pockets in my sleeveless jacket!
